Dear Diary,
I had the best weekend EVER! I walked in the Furry Scurry on Saturday morning. The weather was really awesome, although in truth maybe a little too hot for me, but I got to smell LOTS of butts, got lots of treats and head scratches so it was totally worth it. I think Chili had fun too. At one point on the course, there were these really nice elder humans that had a treat and head pat station. Chili found one that he LOVED! They took pictures of him and everything!
My mom says we raised like $1 million for homeless animals! I don't know how much money that is, but it sounds like a lot! It was great to see so many humans and dogs supporting a good cause. We even saw a miniature horse. He was wearing a vest that said he was a service horse. I don't know what a service horse does, but it has to be cool...
Anyway, I slept a lot on Saturday afternoon and all day yesterday. My mom says we have another event next weekend. I really love summer and nice weather!
I hope you had a nice weekend too, Diary!

CHILI!
Dear Diary,
I know you usually like to hear all about me and my adventures, but I gotta tell you a little bit about Chili! He is a really funny guy. He's been with us for almost 6 months now. At first I think my humans were a little concerned. He slept a LOT, and my mom called him Velcro. He doesn't tell me too much about his previous life or family. My mom says he is very polite, and that somehuman clearly spent some time training him. For example, she always sounds really excited when we take her for walks because she says he has impeccable leash manners. I don't even know what that means!
But anyway, I think my mom was sad for Chili at first because he never plays with toys or seems to be having fun. A lot of humans told her not to worry about this because Chili is older than me and probably doesn't have any interest in toys.
But last night something really cool happened. Chili was doing his usual twirling trick and then ran down the stairs. He had so much momentum from twirling and running that he slid across the floor and rolled around a bit when he got to the bottom. We all laughed and jumped on mom for head pats and face scrunches. My mom told Chili that he was silly! My mom tells me this all the time so I wasn't sure if I should be jealous. My mom assured me that this is something she'll always love about me, no matter how silly Chili is, and that she's so happy to finally see a little of that silly pug personality from Chili. So I decided to be happy too! For sure if there are 2 silly pugs, there will be lots more human laughter, head pats, face scrunches and TREATS!!!
Here's a picture of Chili doing what he does best, snuggling with our mom. I do get jealous when he snuggles, but I'll work on my jealousy issues while Chili works on being more silly. Then we'll be even more perfect!

Coco and Chili Make a Public Appearance!
Dear Diary,
I hope you had a great weekend! Chili and I were super busy this weekend. First, our mom was sick all weekend. She made all these cool pug sounds, like snorts, sniffles, sneezes and wheezes. We had to cuddle her. We cuddled her and let her watch all this royal wedding stuff. I don't know who those humans are, but they weren't covered with pug hair, so I don't think they are as royal as that TV thing made them sound. But, some of the humans on the TV thing were wearing pug toys on their heads! How cool is that?! I wish our mom would wear a pug toy on her head.
On Sunday our mom was finally human enough to take Chili and me to our public appearance. We hadn't been out among our fans in so long that it was nice for the fans to have an opportunity to greet us. Our fans are so great and loyal they blocked off the streets and had a party for us. They even had a human race while they awaited our arrival! I don't know about you, Diary, but I just love humans. Big ones, small ones, ones with dogs, ones with pug toys on their heads... they're all so nice! We were pretty tired after greeting all our fans and walking around all morning. We had to put up our paws when we got home.
Then last night the TV thing said this really bad subhuman is dead. Our mom said this is a good thing and that we should salute the US Service men and women. They make the world a safer place for pugs and humans, so we can't argue with that! We haven't really gotten the salute thing down, so we will eat a treat (or 2) in their honor!

Coco

I'm BAAACK, Part 2
Dear Diary,
I'm so sorry for leaving you hanging for so long. My humans decided that we all needed to move to a new human/pug house. I don't know if you've ever tried it, but moving takes a lot of time and effort. With all the packing and unpacking, my mom hasn't made time for me to get on the computer. She has her priorities out of whack!
Hopefully I'm back online for good now. After all, we pugs need to have a creative writing outlet for all our clever and amazing thoughts and adventures!
Speaking of amazing adventures, last night my mom took Chili and me for a walk. It was pretty eventful. It started out like any other walk. But once we got to the park, things got interesting! First, we were pseudo attacked by a mini-chihuahua. This guy was really scrappy and trying hard to egg us on. It wasn't scary or anything, but kind of embarrasing, especially since all the other non-mini dogs were staring.
We somehow had to regain our dignity in front of the other dogs, so we waged an attack against a coonhound. My mom said we should be thankful that he and his human were really patient and mellow. We don't know about this "thankful" stuff, but we were feeling really proud of ourselves!
THEN, we saw this human my mom said was like a king, or something like that. I think she said he's the king of Colorado. I don't know what a Colorado is, but my mom was "thankful" that no one attacked him. At first I thought we should be thankful that he didn't attack us! After all, I have read that pugs are favored by kings and queens. But then...
We got home and my mom said she found something that she thought had been lost for good. Of all the rotten luck, she found this straightjacket that she knit for me. I thought I had hidden it really good, and I thought we escaped from the straightjacket when we moved to the new human/pug house. Seriously, is this not injustice for pugs?! At the very least, she could have knit it in a more flattering pattern! I look like a LINEBACKER!
Maybe it wouldn't have been so bad if that king guy had taken us to help him rule the Colorado. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't make his royal pugs wear straightjackets! And maybe he lives in a palace with lots of treats and servants! Then we could outlaw this kind of thing!

Furry Scurry!
Dear Diary,
I'm so excited! I just snuck a peak at my mom's email and it looks like we signed up for the 2011 Furry Scurry! It's my favorite social event of the season!
If you don't know what the Scurry is, my mom says its for a good cause, benefiting a local shelter the humans call the Dumb Friends League. I think they call it dumb because they shelter cats there too, and our cat Helen came from there. Although I'm not supposed to call people or cats dumb, so I don't know why they are allowed to call it that. Anyway, I LOVE the Furry Scurry because there are lots of pet vendors there and I get LOTS of treats and head scratches. There is also tons of paparazzi there, they're always taking my picture. I just know I will achieve my goal of world-wide fame by participating, paws crossed it will be this year!
The only thing I don't like about the Furry Scurry is the human sized, fuzzy animals. I bark at them when they try to pet me. All the humans seem to think this is really funny, but those furry giants aren't going to get away with touching me!
This year I'll get to show Chili the Furry Scurry ropes. If there's one good thing I've noticed about having Chili around, it's that even more humans come over and see us. I hope Chili is as excited as I am! For now I need to take a nap, so I can be ready to go full throttle furry scurry style in May. I don't know when that is, but I hope it's soon!

Coco

I'm BACK!
Dear Diary,
Sorry it's been so long since I've written. I've since decided to give up on transferring my previous journal entries. I'm going to start fresh today! So much has happened since I last wrote to you. I adopted a brother, Chili! He's older than me, but I still have to show him the ropes. I wasn't sure that I wanted to adopt him at first, I liked having ALL the attention and treats and love to myself. But now that he's been here awhile, I see that there is enough attention, treats and love to go around. In fact, there may even be MORE treats, because Chili sometimes forgets that pugs use the facilities outside, so my mom, oops, I mean OUR mom, gives us treats when he goes outside. Hmm, now that I think about it, I LOVE Chili! Thanks Diary, for showing me the light!
At the left is a picture of Chili, so you can see what he looks like. I don't think he's as cute as me, but all the humans sure seems to think he is...

Previous Diary Entries - My Family is Strange! July 17, 2007
Dear Diary,
I wrote yesterday about how Helen might want to be friends, but now I think she was only teasing. I don't know why she's so grouchy! She hisses at me and stares at me through the gate. Oh well, my mom says she's anti-social, and I shouldn't let it bother me. So since everyone else loves me so much, I'll just wait until Helen comes around, I know she will eventually since I'm so adorable and loving.
While I'm on the subject of Helen, let me tell you something else about her. She doesn't even like treats! I don't get it! My mom tried to give her a treat, and she sniffed it and walked away. I wanted to eat the treat, but my mom grabbed it off the floor and put it back in the container before I could get it. My mom says Helen is a vegetarian. I don't know what that means, but apparently my mom thinks it's weird for a cat.
Then there's this other pug that lives in the little room in the bedroom, but every time I try to play with him, he just imitates me! I try to attack him, but i can never seem to catch him. After awhile, I get dizzy. This really drives me crazy. The other day, I noticed that his mom and dad look exactly like my mom and dad! AND, he even has a cat that looks just like Helen. Does anyone else have a weird family like me?
Time to go secure the perimeter.
Love,
Coco
